I never intended to end up this way
I take a look at my life and what can I say...
Am I who I would choose to be? Or have I become
one who sits watching life go by, tired and numb?
I can vaguely remember feeling the fir
Of a passion for life... once I burned with desire...
But that was so long ago... and now I’m not even sure
If there is even an answer to these ills we endure
We can talk about addictions, talk about evil and sin
All the ills and the problems that are doing us in
But if there’s one real affliction that’s been getting to me
It’s who we’re becoming from watching TV.
Now I don’t mean to scare you,
but sometimes I could just SCREAM!!!!
When I see what producers put on our screens
All the sex and the violence, the guns and the crime,
And even worse the commercials and what they do to our minds
So we all talk about it... About how it’s all gone too far...
But what are we doing? And look who we are?
And what about our future? Look around now and see...
The world we’re creating by watching TV
We can talk about addictions, talk about evil and sin
All the ills and the problems that are doing us in
But if there’s one real affliction that’s been getting to me
It’s who we’re becoming from watching TV.
You deserve a break today... Turn it OFF!
Just DO IT! Turn it OFF!
